We arrived in Taiping on Friday night, we began our journey at around 5.30pm from Menara TM. Arief as usual slept during the drive home and continue sleeping until 4am when he woke up and asked for nasi. I was tired from watching the French Open semi-final between Federer and Del Potro (Federer won in 5 sets) and Eliza entertain him until early morning. We went to TESCO to buy wedding gifts for my office colleagues; LG DVD player (shared with few of my friends in the office). We also bought a Pensonic DVD player for Arief's room :-)
We drove to the wedding reception in Penanti with my mom. I forgot to bring back the map and I smsed Halim and Radhi for the email invitation; lucky for me Radhi still keep a copy. I transfer the map into my Blackberry for direction. As I'm not familiar with the area, my mom called my auntie and asked for direction which is quite different from the map given. After exiting Juru (minor jam) and spotting "Bukit Mertajam" signboard, I decided to follow the map via Bukit Mertajam. At first I thought we had taken the wrong route and it was a relieved when I saw Kubang Semang Mosque as per the map description. We passed the "Butterworth-Kulim" highway and I was on the look-out for a restaurant; then I saw a small signboard at the traffic light stating that we can parked at the school opposite. The reception was just a few metres away. Our timing couldn't be more perfect (2pm); the bride & groom is busy with the cameraman (I still managed to greet Kimy) and less crowd. We took our food with ease and we really like the sarsi drinks that they served; chilled. The food is delicious too with bubur kacang hijau for dessert. One of my office colleagues came a few minutes after we arrived and shared the table with us. We went back at around 2.30pm and I decided to use the "Butterworth-Kulim' highway nearby. It was actually easier to use this highway as compared to the route that we took. We stopped by Juru R&R for their famous Cucur Udang with peanut sauce :-)
We planned for a small birthday dinner for Arief in Pokok Assam; with Acik Nan & Acik Zakiah. We bought Nasi Ayam and Satay at Bomba famous hawker stall. We dropped by at Sri Kota as Arief wanted to play with his cousins. By the time we reached Pokok Assam, Arief was already sleeping soundly; the birthday boy missed his small birthday dinner. BTW we thoroughly enjoy our dinner :-)
