2009 Ramadhan 10...

We drove back to Shah Alam at around 9.30am; we wanted to avoid the usual traffic jam. My mom's prepared meals for berbuka and also for my sister and Aiman. We arrived at Shah Alam by 12.30pm and the journey was smooth. One of my friends went back at 1pm and he sms that he stuck in a massive jam heading to Tanjung Malim. Our berbuka meal was delicious with ayam masak merah as the main course and bubur pengat ubi :-)

2009 Ramadhan 09...

This morning Eliza went shopping for baju raya with her sister; they went to Taiping Sentral. Arief was still sleeping at home; tired from yesterday playing all night with his cousins. After Arief woke up and taken his bath, we went to Taiping Sentral to meet up with Eliza there and we plan to buy baju raya for my mom. I went with Arief to YuYi to buy his Ultraman DVD while they shop; nothing to their liking. We decided to visit Toko Zaini instead but not before buying Arief his McDonalds for lunch. It was jam packed nearby Toko Zaini; I just waited in the car while they shop and to my luck the car infront of me vacated it's parking. My mom manage to find her baju raya there. I sent Eliza & Arief to Sri Kota and I went for my hair-cut at Welcome; the famous barber in Taiping. I opted for the full hair-cut and shaving; all for RM12. I went with my mom to Pasar Ramadhan at the taxi stand Taiping and we bought ayam percik, murtabak, cakoi, samosa goreng, various kuih, air amra, sugar cane and the famous Taiping popiah. Well my sister counted 9 different meals. My mom prepared pajeri terung with ikan cencaru sumbat; extremely delicious with bubur pengat pisang. Eliza slept early today as she was tired as Arief spend time playing with Wan Aju; taking pictures from the camera phone and playing games :-)

2009 Ramadhan 08...

We went to Kuala Kangsar with my mom this morning to buy raya cookies (kuih kacang & dodol) and visit my uncle. At first Eliza & Arief wanted to skip this trip and spend the morning in Sri Kota but as Arief is already up and running, Eliza decided to join us as well. Eliza had a blast when we went to buy the raya cookies (we went to the manufacturer; massive discounts) and we bought quite a lot. BTW my mom buy cookies here every year. Arief enjoy playing at the little fountain at the front of the house. We went to visit my uncle which was just nearby and we waited outside as Arief wanted to play with my camera phone; taking pictures. My uncle courtyard has rambutan and manggis; pity it was not the season. We went for a short drive around Bukit Chandan and we manage to find our old house there (it took us awhile as there is a lot of new development there); we were supposed to move in after I finish my SPM but my dad passed away. We sold it and my mom built the bungalow in Pokok Assam. On our way back we bought breads at the famous double lion shop :-)

I went with my mom to Pasar Malam Changkat Jering to buy meals for berbuka. I thought of just buying murtabak but we ended up buying pecal, satay, kuihs, pedal percik and cempedak. Today it's my family "more" at surau pokok assam. They prepared daging masak kicap, ayam masak merah and jelatah. It was quite delicious. After finish with berbuka, we went to Matang as my in-laws also did "more" there. I was planning to have my 2nd dinner there but aftre finish terawih (which was quite long), I decided not to as I was too tired. Arief was playing catch with his cousins and when he throws the ball; he throws it just like a baseball player throws; complete with one foot up after finishing his throw. And accurate trajectory as well; excellent hand and eye coordination. BTW I did have pengat pisang for supper though :-)

2009 Ramadhan 07...

We went back to Taiping as Arief has fully recovered from his chicken pox. We went to IKANO first to buy t-shirts for Arief as well as cookies at IKEA; not forgetting meatballs for Arief to eat during the journey. We arrived in Pokok Assam by 5pm and Arief didn't sleep at all during the journey. We berbuka at Sri Kota; Eliza's mom prepared various specialties; mostly new recipes from the various cooking shows. I went for Terawih at the nearby mosque and by the time I finished Arief is already sleeping; tired from playing with his cousins :-)

2009 Ramadhan 06...

Alhamdulilah Arief is recovering well from his chicken pox. We went to Shah Alam Mall in the evening to buy Ultraman DVD for Arief and also buy meals for berbuka; Famous Thai. I ordered vegetable soup, tomyam chicken, kerabu mango and buttered squids. BTW Arief was busy re-arranging the chairs in the restaurant. We went for the pasar ramadhan nearby to our house and I bought air jambu batu assam boi. Eliza came home a bit late because it was raining. We really like the meals from Famous Thai apart from buttered squids; should have ordered chilli squids instead. The air jambu batu assam boi is extremely sweet though :-)

2009 Ramadhan 05...

I'll be at home with Arief and Eliza went to the office. We spend most of the day playing Nintendo Wii and watching numerous DVD; Arief fall asleep while watching Ben 10 Alien Force. Eliza arrived home by 6pm and I went to Restoran Hakim Seksyen 7 to buy our food for berbuka; Nasi Kandar with fried chicken and a little bit of pedal. I also went to Pasar Ramadhan near our house and bought air kelapa muda and fanta strawberry for Eliza. The nasi kandar is not as nice as before; I think it is because I bought it early and we only berbuka at 7.30pm :-)

2009 Ramadhan 04...

Eliza is again at home with Arief as I will be taking care of Arief from Wednesday onwards. I went again to Pasar Ramadhan Kelana Jaya and bought ikan bakar; cencaru and ikan keli. This time I went to a different seller to buy bubur pulut hitam and bubur jagung. I also bought popiah basah Wisma FAM. Eliza prepared roasted chicken at home. I think I've over bought for berbuka. BTW Arief condition is improving but he still needs to be at home :-)

2009 Ramadhan 03...

Eliza is at home with Arief while I went to the office; we take turns to be with Arief at home. As this is the school holiday, the traffic jam is manageable and we also get to leave early from the office; 4.30pm. I went straight to Pasar Ramadhan Kelana Jaya. This year there is no ayam golek and popiah basah SS2, maybe they moved to another venue. I bought ikan bakar; pari and keli as well as Popiah Basah Wisma FAM, air kelapa muda, air cincau, bubur pulut hitam and karipap sardin. We really enjoy the ikan bakar but the bubur pulut hitam and karipap sardin is very dissapointing :-)

2009 Ramadhan 02...

We noticed that Arief began developing major itchiness all over his body and frequently asking us to scratch him. We thought it was any mosquito bites but as it begans to develop more throughout his body; we suspect that he had measles. As Eliza's mom already prepared some food for berbuka and Eliza cook my favourite chicken with eggs and lobak masin, I went to Pasar Ramadhan Seksyen 3 to buy air kelapa muda for Arief. I did stop by at Pasar Ramadhan UniSel and bought bihun sup and tepung pelita. After berbuka we went to the nearest clinic at Seksyen 7 and the doctor confirmed that it is chicken pox, not measles. Arief will be staying at home next week then :-)

2009 Ramadhan 01...

I went to service our Honda at KosmoKars in the morning before heading to Tesco to buy Drypers and milk for Arief. We did went to Giant at Shah Alam Mall for our monthly groceries shopping. We began our first Ramadhan with a small family "break fast" at our house with Eliza's parents and sister. The special dish is sambal petai with prawns. I have not been eating petai for years as I don't like the after taste but as it is Ramadhan; why not as it looks so tempting. Well I had a migraine after eating petai and spend most of the night on the bed resting. Well at least Arsenal won 4-1 against Pompey :-)

Weekend of Tennis...

It was a tennis weekend for me before the beginning of Ramadhan. I even organized a tennis friendly with KLTM on Sunday; winning both my matches; doubles with Faizal (6-4) against Richard & Gan and single (6-1) against Melvin. BTW I wore my Arsenal T-Shirt to celebrate the 6-1 drubbing of Everton :-)

Cheras Alam Damai & Sunway Semenyih...

We went to Eliza's friend house for a kenduri doa selamat; we were invited to their house raya open house last year but we couldn't find the direction. This time her friend provided us with the roadmap and the only landmark I can follow is Alam Damai. Lucky for us we took the right turn into Cheras Leisure Mall and we saw the signboard for Alam Damai and we just follow the signs. Alhamdulilah we reached their home just nice for lunch (nasi ayam & roti jala). We wanted to visit Eliza's apartment at Balakong (it was nearby but I took the wrong route we ended up going to Kajang using SILK). So I just drove to Bandar Baru Bangi using the old route and bought tennis balls at Hock Eng :-)

We went back home for some needed R&R before driving to Sunway Semenyih for a family gathering; celebrating Neng's Masters Graduation at Pak Teh's house. Arief was sleeping during the journey (he was really tired) and woke up upon arriving. Luckilly I brought his portable DVD and Arief continue watching Ultraman with his cousins at the guest room. We had chicken BBQ with nasi minyak. The night ended with family photograph and we drove back home at around 11pm :-)

Cyberjaya Corporate Olympics @ Closing Ceremony...

I received an sms and a call from the Organizer on the Cyberjaya Corporate Olympics Closing Ceremony yesterday scheduled to start at 6pm. Eliza is in Genting for her company workshop and will only be back by 5pm. It was a bit of a rush to pick-up Eliza at Kelana Jaya first and Arief at Little Caliphs before I drove to Cyberjaya. I arrived there by 6.30pm; lucky for me it had not started yet as few more events was still on-going (Badminton and Marathon). We finally received our medals and prize money by 7.45pm. Most of the participants went back after the ceremony but I stayed for the dinner; bihun goreng with kuih. Only the tennis winners were there :-)

Cyberjaya Corporate Olympics @ Final...

I already plan out my strategy for the semi-final but my game went to the drains for the first 8 points and I was trailing 2-6. Then everything started to click; top spin forehand going for short angle, low slice backhand, disguise drop shot, offensive lob, first serve percentage increase and sharp angle volley. I basically change the game tempo from fast to slow to drop shot to angle shot and I make my opponent move from side to side. The killer came when I stand at the no-mans land to intercept his second serve; this give an added advantage in terms of confidence. Finally I won the match by 8-6 after an hour ++ on the court. BTW the match point was really tight as I have 3 chances to win the match; blew the first one by smashing out; the second by hitting my backhand into the net and won the crucial last one when my opponent return my forehand topspin out. But my opponent in the Final, John from EDS had a walk-over in the semi-final. I was still tired from my semi-final and I lost the final match. Well at least I've achieved my target on reaching the finals and won RM200 for my efforts :-)

Genting Highland Part 1...

We went to Awana Genting Highland to celebrate our 4th Year wedding anniversary (we honeymoon here after driving back from Awana Kijal). I managed to buy the vouchers via Lowyat for RM45; free one night stay at Awana Genting Highland among it's many offerings. We started our journey quite late; at around 11.30am and we stopped for lunch at McD NKVE (Petronas).  We arrived at Awana around 2pm and we proceed for check-in. It took awhile as the queue is quite long. It was worth the wait as upon the confirmation of our room via the vouchers, we were given a free breakfast buffet vouchers by the Hotel staff (she thinks that Arief is cute and it would be a hassle for us to go and buy breakfast in the morning). Our room is on level 11; and the finishing of the room is very impressive as compared to our previous experience. Thumbs up to Awana Genting Highland :-)

We drove up to the theme parks at around 4pm and we parked at Genting Resort. Arief was already excited to explore the new surroundings; and it was quite cold too. The journey to the indoor park is quite far from here with many escalators and walkways. We passed by their Casino and as well as the Vision City (arcade games). Upon arriving at the Indoor Theme Park, we asked Arief whether he would want to play with all the rides but he declined. We ended up just touring all the retail shops available. I did bought Ultraman stickers for Arief to keep him busy while we have our early dinner later. We wanted to have something hot but not the usual fast food outlets; we eventually went for dinner at Hou Wei. We ordered roasted chicken rice and Hor Fun Soup; both is quite delicious :-)

As promised, we took Arief to the arcade game where we spend RM30 playing the arcades; from Daytona to Drum Machines to Dance Mania and basketball. All three of us likes playing "Go-Go-Balls" where we hit the object on the screen with small plastic balls. Arief also join in the fun by throwing the plastic balls. We also play the water fire and baseball. We collected about 179 tickets and we redeem it for a set of fridge magnets and stickers. Btw it took us awhile to coerce Arief to stop playing at the arcade. On our way out we bought KFC Snack Plate for Arief. It was already 8.30pm and it was quite foggy and cold. The drive down to Awana was a bit dangerous with the low visibility. Alhamdulillah we arrive safely and Arief fall asleep in the car :-)
