Aidil Fitri 2011 @ Day 2...

Today we went to Penang with my whole family; first time for us in Aidil Fitri. We began our journey at 10.30am and reach Penang by noon; smooth traffic all the way. We wanted to have lunch at Line Clear but it was still close. After calling my father-in-law and Yeop, we manage to drive to Restoran Kayu Sg Dua / Bukit Jambul; took us an hour with all the miss-turn (didn't bring my GPS along). We ordered Kari Kepala Ikan, Ayam Madu, Ayam Goreng, Sotong Kari, Telur Goreng, Sayur Kobis and Telur Masin. It was delicious and the bill came up to RM110 (worth every RM spent). We then drove back to Taiping; stopping at Juru to buy cucur udang and visit my in-laws in Sri Kota. We then went to Kpg Boyang to visit my auntie's families and we arrive home by 6.45pm. Exhausted with all the glorious food. I was suffering from a mild flu and immediately went to sleep after taking my medicine :-)

Aidil Fitri 2011 @ Day 1...

As with every Aidil Fitri since we got married, we went to Sri Kota early in the morning to perform Solat Sunat. This time my mom-in-law went with Eliza and for the first time Arief followed me for solat sunat. Arief was well behave but he did asked me during our solat why I'm using plaster on my toes. We finished everything by 9.30am and we went back to Sri Kota for our breakfast and the maaf-maafan ritual (only us and Ijam as Elina & Neng will only be back on Wednesday). We then went back to Pokok Assam for my family gatherings; with laksa and bukhara ayam. We manage to FaceTime with Aiman in Buffalo at noon; he even wore his new baju melayu. The gathering ended by 3pm and we were quite exhausted. We then went to my auntie house in Kamunting at 8.30pm for bihun sup before heading back to Sri Kota for some needed R&R :-)

Ramadhan 2011 @ Day 29...

This is the last day of Ramadhan and we will be celebrating Aidil Fitri tomorrow. I went to Gujapa very early in the morning to wash our WISH before going to visit my father's grave with my mom and sister. My mom recently did a clean-up of the grave and it looks so nice; Alhamdulillah. It has been 20 years since my arwah father passed away and the fond memories of him is still strong with me. We then went to the nearby wet market and take a stroll along the various bazaar Ramadhan; buying cookies, rendang and bunga api. We arrived at Pokok Assam by 11.30am and then my sister realized that my front right tyre is punctured. I don't think I can drive the car to the nearest tyre shop for repair; so I ended up using a jack to lift the car and unscrew the tyre bolt. It did take a while to settle; luckily Abg D was around to help (my sister just arrived from Shah Alam). I took the tyres to the nearby tyre shop for repair; RM5 for a huge puncture. I drove to Sri Kota to pick-up Arief to play with his cousins; Ilyas & Irfan while Eliza stayed there to finish cooking for Aidil Fitri. We berbuka with the whole family in Pokok Assam; similar meal as yesterday with Rendang Daging & Lemang and Ayam Masak Merah. We then play bunga api after berbuka with all the kids and watch fireworks from our kampung :-)

Ramadhan 2011 @ Day 28...

We went to ManjaKu with Eliza's mom and sister; buying gifts for Neng's new born baby boy as well as buying new bottles for Arief. We wanted to walk around Bazaar Ramadhan nearby Taiping Jaya and we manage to find parking; a bit far though. We noticed a few stalls selling firecrackers and I plan to buy just a few "bunga api" for Arief to play on Monday night in Pokok Assam. Arief bought ketayap for him at one of the stalls and we even went into the Store to buy toys for arief. It was indeed crowded. As we were about to go back we saw policeman patrolling the stalls and the firecrackers seller is nowhere to be found. We then went to Giant to buy ingredients for Spaghetti Bolognaise that Eliza will be preparing on Tuesday night; we even bought 2 pelita panjut. We arrived home by 2.30pm and we were so tired. I manage to fall asleep until 5.30pm. Today we will be having our berbuka at my mom's house @ Pokok Assam and Eliza's parents will be joining us as well. My mom prepared kari kepala ikan, cencaru sumbat, sambal tumis kerang, sup sayur, cucur udang and bubur cha-cha. Everything was extremely delicious and we manage to finish almost everything. We went to Sri Kota at around 8.40pm; took a short drive to Taiping Lake Garden and Arief fall asleep soundly in the car :-)

Ramadhan 2011 @ Day 27...

We began our journey from Shah Alam at 8am today; make a quick pit-stop at McDonalds Seksyen 9 Shah Alam to buy breakfast meal for Arief. Journey was smooth via Bukit Jelutong Expressway but we were caught in a traffic jam approaching Rawang; mainly due to traffic accidents. It was again smooth driving until the Slim River & Sungkai stretch. After that it was again smooth all the way. I maintain a speed limit of 110 km/h and we arrive in Taiping by noon. Again make a quick pit-stop at KFC Taiping to buy lunch for Arief. I manage to rest @ sleep from 2pm to 4pm and we went to Matang for our berbuka. We had kari ikan semilang with sambal tumis udang petai and kerabu perut; delicious :-)

Ramadhan 2011 @ Day 26...

This is our last day working before our 9 days Raya Holiday and we went back early @ 4pm. We opted for nasi kandar & briani Restoran Pelita Shah Alam Mall with ayam masak kicap and ayam goreng. We packed our luggage as we will be travelling back to Taiping tomorrow morning. I went out at 11pm for WCM Teh Tarik Session at Sunway; had sizzling black pepper steak and tembikai laici for my early sahur. Arrived home by 1am and Arief is still awake watching DVDs. Arief finally went to sleep at 1.30am :-)

Ramadhan 2011 @ Day 25...

We had make plans to berbuka at Heritage Mines today with Elina's family. I have a last minute meeting at 4.45pm in the office and only reach home by 6.45pm. We anticipated our lateness to arrive at our destination and we brought along kurma and drinks for our journey and true enough we berbuka at Federal Highway @ Traffic Jam. We arrived at Heritage by 7.50pm and immediately walked to the berbuka venue; an open air BBQ with bihun + mee goreng plus kari ayam. We had the bihun goreng; quite delicious and waited for the BBQ to be ready. Chicken wings and small hot dog is nice but not the meat balls (or fishball). We arrived home by 10.30pm :-)

Ramadhan 2011 @ Day 24...

We are running out of ideas for our berbuka meal and I decided to buy at Restoran Cili Merah Seksyen 9 Shah Alam. As I was deciding on which lauk to choose; we notice a lot of flies flying around. We did'nt buy our meal; instead we went to Seksyen 7 where I bought nasi with ayam kampung and nasi kandar Restoran Hakim for Eliza & Arief (same berbuka meal as last Monday). I did stop by at the nearby pasar Ramadhan and bought soya + corn + tembikai susu beverages. The meal is delicious as usual and suprisingly I went to sleep at 8.30pm; initial idea was to coerce Arief to go to sleep as I wanted to do my packing for balik kampung but when I close the TV & Astro; I went to sleep as well. Woke up at 3.30am and manage to catch Arsenal 2nd Half performance against Udinese where they won 2-1; to qualify for Champions League 2nd Round Draw :-)

Ramadhan 2011 @ Day 23...

I'm still recovering from my stomach discomfort and will be staying at home today; recuperating. Alhamdulillah I'm feeling a lot better. It must have been the prawns that I cooked. I pick-up Arief at Little Caliphs and he mentioned that he would like to have Pizza for dinner. We went to Domino's Pizza and bought our take-away meal. Arief ate two slices of pizza with two chicken wings :-)

Ramadhan 2011 @ Day 22...

I was not feeling well today; headache and stomach discomfort. I opted to work from home today. It was a simple meal for our berbuka today. I bought nasi with ayam kampung while Eliza & Arief shared nasi kandar Restoran Hakim :-)

Ramadhan 2011 @ Day 21...

I spend most of the day sleeping; covering up my sleep as I was up until 6am. Today I will be going for BBQ & Steamboat buffet in Sg Buloh with my WCM friends; going alone as Arief is quite sleepy in the evening as he was up the whole day playing and watching DVD. I bought KFC for Eliza and Arief before I drove to Sg Buloh via Bukit Jelutong Expressway. It was such a huge turnout by WCM; coincides with anothe retro toyota club as well. I started the ball rolling by choosing the items to be BBQ and steamboat and then the rush follow. Food was quite good; considering we have two cook everything. The session ended around 11pm after a round of teh tarik and chit-chat. I arrive home at 11.30pm and I was so tired :-)

Ramadhan 2011 @ Day 20...

We have a small iftar gathering with my cousins at Muhibbah Seafood Sg Penchala. Fadzli & Azura had earlier plan to attend but Azura water broke this morning and both of them is waiting at Hospital Putrajaya for the birth of their child. We went to Muhibbah Seafood with my cousin @ Fazlin and we arrive at around 7pm. Parking was already packed but I still manage to find a spot just before the turn. Moly and her husband Zainuddin has pre-ordered our meal and everything is just waiting for berbuka. It took us awhile to locate our table as it was packed with customers. Our meal consist of fried fish + squids + prawns + tauhu + vegetables + crab. We didn't ate much rice as we focus on finishing the various seafoods. Total bills is about RM250++; RM45 each contribution. We arrive home by 9.30pm. And I have another Sahur gathering today at Hotel UiTM Shah Alam; this time with my friends in WCM. I've already pre-book our table at the terrace. Food served was quite delicious and all of us (14 in total) ate until 4am. I arrive home by 4.30am; exhausted and can't wait to go to sleep :-)

Ramadhan 2011 @ Day 19...

We arrive early home today as both of us have meeting in Kuala Lumpur; we manage to escape the famous city traffic jam and arrive in Shah Alam by 5pm. We opted to have Nasi Ayam Pak Mal Seksyen 11 for our berbuka meal. We did stopped by at Restoran Soto to buy hati goreng kicap for the nasi ayam that we bought earlier as well as air jagung. We went to pick-up Arief at Little Caliphs before driving to Pasar Ramadhan for Arief's favourite tepung pelita and soya. We had a blast having nasi ayam for berbuka. Btw I have sahur gathering with my tennis buddies @ TTDuta at Hotel UiTM Shah Alam; just seven of us but Hotel UiTM Sahur Buffet was already full. We then decided to have our sahur at Restoran Amin Thai Seksyen 7. I opted for kuehteow bandung with lots of beverages. I went home by 2.30am; full and sleepy :-)

Ramadhan 2011 @ Day 18...

We still have leftovers from yesterday berbuka in our fridge and we decided to cook rice and buy more lauk. We went to Restoran Soto Seksyen 8 Shah Alam where I bought paru goreng cili + daging limpa masak kicap + udang goreng pedas + tepung pelita. We then went to Restoran D'Hati at Seksyen 7 Shah Alam to buy siput sedup masak lemak; to our dismay they didn't prepare that dish today. As we were driving around Seksyen 7 I spotted Restoran Ayam Kampung which was open and they do sell siput sedut masak lemak. Our meal is complete; did stop by at Pasar Ramadhan to buy more tepung pelita for Arief as has finish the first one we bought at Restoran Soto. I also bought air soya + bandung cincau with soda. Food was delicious; it did took us a while to eat the siput sedup though :-)

Ramadhan 2011 @ Day 17...

We were at home today; Selangor Public Holiday @ Nuzul Al-Quran. Eliza together with her sister Elina, niece Anis and my mother-in-law went for Baju Raya shopping around Shah Alam. Arief, Haziq and Abah decided to just rest at home. Haziq was flat-out due to his Qiamulai session yesterday at Masjid Shah Alam. Arief is busy playing with his iPad and watching Transformers on DVD. We will be preparing home cooked meal today for berbuka as Eliza's brother @ Elizany is coming over from Kajang. Eliza prepared ayam goreng + sup sayur while Elina cooked fish curry and ikan goreng. Abah went out to the pasar ramadhan and bought ikan cencaru sumbat + ikan keli sambal + daging masak merah + kuih-muih + soya + bandung. And to our suprise Elizany came with his wife GG and his new baby boy (under pantang); we had earlier plan to drive to his house this Saturday morning to visit his newborn boy. Berbuka feast was excellent with family members. We should do this more often this Ramadhan :-)

Ramadhan 2011 @ Day 16...

I'm attending an event organize by MDEC at Mutiara Crown Princess and will berbuka at the hotel Ramadhan Buffet @ Planters Cafe. Eliza & Arief is at home berbuka with my in-laws and Elina's family; we bought Ayam Golek Pantai Dalam. I had kambing panggang for appetizers; a bit salty and hard. I then opted for daging kawah + nasi minyak; this one is quite nice. Then I went for nasi ulam with loads of lauk-pauk ranging from chicken to beef to squids. And I conclude my berbuka with bread pudding with strawberry ice cream with huge toppings. A bit overdose I guess but I do prefer berbuka with my family at home. I reached home by 9.30pm; too full to ate Ayam Golek. Saving it for sahur then :-)

Ramadhan 2011 @ Day 15...

My in-laws came to Shah Alam today; last minute thingy due to maid issue. We decided to just berbuka at Restoran Al-Munawarrah Seksyen 9. We arrive back in Shah Alam by 5.45pm and I immediately went to Al-Munawarrah to reserve our table as well as placing our orders for berbuka. I order siakap masam manis + daging black pepper + ayam lemon + claypot tauhu + telur fuyoong + kangkung belacan + baby kailan ikan masin + sup chap chai with teh o and sirap selasih. We were there by 7.15pm and we took our portion as to avoid hassle during berbuka. Everybody enjoy their meals and we finish everything on the plate :-)

Ramadhan 2011 @ Day 14...

I woke up early today due to my sleep overdose yesterday and as usual I send our TW for some needed bath at Gujapa. We went to AVON Taiping; stock-up and went to Gene Martino to buy Arief's Baju Melayu. We manage to find one in pink colour; same like mine and also with matching pink sampin. We walked to the nearby bazaar to buy butang baju melayu for Arief. We stopped by at Seri Kota before driving back to Shah Alam by 12.30pm. We stopped at Behrang for some needed leg stretching; and also Arief is hungry. Luckily my mom prepared nasi tomato with chicken for Arief and it does smell delicious. We arrive in Shah Alam by 3.30pm; drop by my sister house @ Subang Permai to pass her food for berbuka from my mom. We went to Shah Alam Mall to shop for groceries; and we even bought some ulam and sambal belacan for our berbuka at Restoran Cili Merah. My mom prepared ikan pekasam + sambal tumis sotong + pajeri terung + sambal bachang. And to our surprise Arief enjoy having ikan pekasam with rice :-)

WCM 2011 Charity Drive...

We participated in WCM Charity Drive; a joint effort with sehelaibaju.com. We arrive at Dataran Merdeka by 7.30am; early morning here is quite astonishing. A total of 44 TW participating and we will be going to three orphanages around Gombak Kuala Lumpur. We flag-off at around 9.30am and we arrived at our destination by 10am. We took in two boys (Iqram + Roy) as well as one caretaker and we then re-group with the other TW before starting a convoy to Mydin USJ. Upon arriving Roy vomitted in the car as he is not familiar with convoy driving; it was just minor and could be clean-off with wet towel and Febreeze. We then shop for baju melayu + t-shirt + pants + songkok for these two boys. Both of them wanted purple colour and we manage to find two; different design of course. Even Arief join in and bought himself blue baju melayu and spiderman t-shirt. I went with the boys upstairs to pay while Eliza & Arief went to pay downstairs. The event concluded at around 2pm with group pictures. We then send them back to the their orphanage; this time I opted not to follow the convoy. We arrive first at the orphanages within 10 minutes the convoy arrive. We  thenbegan our journey to Taiping at 3pm from Gombak :-)

Ramadhan 2011 @ Day 13...

We arrived in Taiping by 5.30pm and we went straight to Pokok Assam for some needed R&R. It was tiring indeed as we were up since Sahur. This weekend is moreh for both of our families; Pokok Assam and Matang. Our plan is to berbuka at Pokok Assam and then proceed to Matang for Terawih and more food. We have ayam masah merah with dalca and jelatah from the moreh in Pokok Assam. And my mom prepared daging masak kicap with cucur cempedak + bubur cha-cha; as well as kuih tepung pelita and sagu (bought from Pasar Ramadhan). It was indeed delicious. I decided to rest for awhile but ended up sleeping until midnight due to tiredness. We didn't went to Matang as plan but my in-laws came to drop by the food from Matang moreh as well as nasi ulam :-)

Ramadhan 2011 @ Day 12...

Today we will be going to my friend house in Bangi for berbuka; a small gathering with my closest friends. I bought two Ayam Golek Pantai Dalam as our pot-luck. It was raining heavilly when we began our journey from the office to Shah Alam and we were caught in a massive traffic jam. We only arrive home by 6.30pm; and I told my friend we will be a bit late coming over to his house. True enough we arrive at his house by 8.15pm. Food was already waiting for us but we decided to wait for our friend who is still on the way with Babrican. We had nasi briani kambing + daging with ayam golek kampung pandan + gulai daging kawah + cucur cempedak (hot from the oven) + karipap + fruits + jelly kelapa + babrican. It was an enjoyable gathering for everybody; even Arief enjoy his time with all the children @ playing PS2 and football. We went back home by 11.30pm; reaching home at arounf 12.15am. Need to pack up our things as we will be driving back to Taiping as well as participating in Wish Club Malaysia Charity Drive :-)

Ramadhan 2011 @ Day 11...

We plan to berbuka at Shah Alam Mall today as we will be shopping for my mom's baju raya there. We bought our appetizers at Seksyen 9; rojak pasembor Karim as well as Nasi Ulam from Restoran Cili Merah with kuih sagu & lopeh. Both rojak pasembor & nasi ulam was delicious; need to repeat the nasi ulam again. We went to Shah Alam Mall after Maghrib and Arief was already sound asleep. We brought along his stroller so that he can sleep and we immediately went to buy baju raya for my mom; manage to find at CitiTrend Boutique. Then we had our berbuka meal at Pak Long Kopitiam; char kueh teow and sizzling mee with chinese tea :-)

Ramadhan 2011 @ Day 10...

We went to Pasar Ramadhan Seksyen 7 to buy our meal but totally forgotten that today coincides with the usual Pasar Malam; so most of our usual seller was not available today. We only bought Laksa Penang and Fruit Jelly for Arief. At the end I bought Nasi Kandar Ayam Madu at Restoran Kayu Seksyen 7 as well as KFC Spicy Dinner Plate. We drove to McD to buy nuggets for Arief but the drive-in queue was too long; same goes for the queue inside. As it was approaching maghrib, we decided to visit Mcd later tonite or tomorrow evening. The laksa was delicious especially the gravy; Nasi Kandar Ayam Madu was delicious as well. We were so fulled. And we didn't went to McD as Arief went to sleep at 9pm :-)

Ramadhan 2011 @ Day 9...

Today we decided to berbuka at Menara TM; there's an event organized by BAKIT for the orphanage and single mothers. We had plan to go with Elina's family but they cancel at the last minute. We actually went back home first to refresh before driving back to Menara TM; journey was smooth without any traffic jams. We arrive sharply at 7.15pm and immediately we took our table. Arief is in his usual mood; running all over the place. We started our berbuka with kurma and kuih (samosa, cara berlauk and seri muka); btw Arief started earlier with rice and kari daging + ikan masak kicap. We really like the kari daging and ayam goreng. Even the teh tarik was nice. And for the first time Arief follow me to the surau and both of us solat maghrib together; Alhamdulillah :-)

Ramadhan 2011 @ Day 8...

We were undecided on what to buy for our berbuka meals for today; from going to our favourite restaurant in Shah Alam or buying nasi lemak at Seksyen 9. At last we ended up going to Bazaar Ramadhan Seksyen 7 and bought nasi lemak kukus with ayam + paru, cucur cempedak, tepung pelita and air mata kucing. The nasi lemak is delicious as always; from our favourite seller who sells at Seksyen 6 Pasar Malam on Friday. Arief now only eats three tepung pelita out of 5; leaving the balance two for us :-)

Ramadhan 2011 @ Day 7...

I went to Bazaar Ramadhan Kelana Jaya today to buy our meals for berbuka and our theme will be ikan bakar. I reached there by 5pm and it was already packed and I had to park further away. I walked until the end of the line and was disappointed that the usual ikan bakar seller was not here. I then opted for ikan pari bakar and ikan cencaru sumbat (from a different seller). As I was walking back then I notice the seller; this time they were stationed in the middle and I totally missed them earlier. I ended up buying ikan keli bakar. I also bought cucur cempedak + tepung pelita + popiah basah + air khatira + air kelapa as well as bubur pulut hitam. This time Arief only ate 2 pieces of tepung pelita instead of 5 and all of us enjoy having all three ikan bakar with rice for our berbuka :-)

Ramadhan 2011 @ Day 6...

We will be going to my sister house in Subang Permai for our berbuka today. Eliza is preparing kambing masak lemak (leftovers from my recent BBQ birthday celebration). I still went to the nearby Bazaar Ramadhan to buy tepung pelita and we arrive at my sister's house by 7pm. Arief immediately went to play with Irfan while Ilyas opted to play with Arief's iPad. My sis prepared Udang Goreng Oat with sayur campur as well as sambal tumis ikan bilis; buah melaka and lepat pisang. Home cooked meal is always delicious and we went home with a full stomach; even brought back some prawns for Arief :-)

Ramadhan 2011 @ Day 5...

Today is our 6th Wedding Anniversary and we decided to have our berbuka puasa at Famous Thai Shah Alam Mall. I still went to the nearby Bazaar Ramadhan as I still need to buy our appetizers; Tepung Pelita + Murtabak + Drinks. We berbuka at home first and after Maghrib we drove to Shah Alam Mall @ 8.30pm. We ordered tom yam seafood + kerabu mango + fried beef with ginger and spring onion + claypot beancurd. While waiting for our food to be served, Arief even had time to do his homework at the table. The food was indeed delicious :-)

Ramadhan 2011 @ Day 4...

We arrived quite early in Shah Alam @ 5.30pm and we immediately went to Bazaar Ramadhan Seksyen 7 Shah Alam. It was raining heavily and I went alone to shop for our berbuka feast. I opted for Nasi Ambang again (becoming my favorite for this Ramadhan) and bought nasi tomato for Eliza. I even manage to buy cempedak goreng + roti john + tepung pelita as well as air kelapa muda and soya for Arief. Btw Arief finish eating all his tepung pelita in the car :-)

Ramadhan 2011 @ Day 3...

I came to the office today after two days of medical leave and it was hectic indeed; didn't realized that it was already 4.30pm. Driving back was a challenge as we arrive in Shah Alam at 6pm sharp. We drove straight to Elina's house to fetch Arief and we decided to buy Nasi Ayam Kukus & Nasi Arab Roasted Chicken at Anjung 7. I also bought babrican for our drinks. We did stopped by Bazaar Ramadhan Seksyen 7 where we bought air soya + fried chicken + tepung pelita for Arief. Btw Arief really likes the tepung pelita; he ate 4 out of 5 that we bought :-)

Ramadhan 2011 @ Day 2...

This is my second day with my eye infection; hopefully it will get better soon. As I was still on Medical Leave I went to shop for our berbuka feast at Pasar Ramadhan Seksyen 7 Shah Alam. I bought my favourite Nasi Ambang @ RM6.50 and nasi tomato ayam percik for Eliza. For appetizers is tepung pelita and keropok lekor for Arief with air kelapa muda and soya bean. I will always make sure that I bought my food at our familiar sellers; as during Ramadhan we do have a lot of first time sellers. Alhamdulillah all food are delicious :-)

Ramadhan 2011 @ Day 1...

I started my first Ramadhan with an eye infection; so will be on medical leave for two days. I still remember way back in 2001 when I began my Ramadhan with severe food poisoning; couldn't puasa for one whole week and lost weight tremendously. I went to fetch Arief at his Little Caliphs and he said that he is hungry (apparently his teacher thought that Arief is fasting). We immediately went to KFC Seksyen 7 and I bought him a chicky meal. For our berbuka I bought ayam madu + gulai daging + sayur kobis at Kayu Nasi Kandar. We then went with Eliza to Pasar Ramadhan Seksyen 7 where we bought drinks (soya + lai chee kang) as well as kuih tepung pelita. I did stop by at the small Pasar Ramadhan nearby my house and bought roti john. Btw Eliza brought home bubur lambuk from her office :-)
